Lucifer blinked dumbly at him. “What?”

Anima were rare.
So rare, in fact, that most saw them as myths, legends, children’s stories. After all, when most would not ever have the experience of switching bodies with another individual for extended periods of time, and those who did often remained silent… it was difficult to believe.
Ever rarer were the anima who met in their daily lives. If two in a million people were soulmates, only a measly five percent of those soulmates would ever meet. Most were content to merely live two separate lives: themselves eighty percent of the time, and their partner the other twenty.

Summary
"Following June's incredibly unfortunate and inaccurate sex scandal, the topic of Futaba and Akira's supposed sex life disappeared from everyone's minds, all parties quite content to let that chapter close. Well, all minds, except Futaba's. Akira had promised that if she wanted to pursue a sexual relationship with him, he would assist her in any way she found useful until she comfortably got to that end goal. When her mother first devised the idea of a promise list, it was intended to be a method of encouraging change and personal growth in small, hopefully successful steps. She would probably be rolling over in her grave if she knew Futaba was using her technique to get laid."
Following the events of The S Word (Tales from the Thieve's Guild chapter 2), Futaba decides to start her journey towards battling her lingering inner demons to feel comfortable in her own skin as well as feel safe in a physical relationship with Akira. The path is rocky and sometimes painful, but oh so rewarding.

Summary
When Ann realizes their math teacher has spotted Akira nodding off in the desk behind hers, she braces herself for what's about to follow. Sure enough, the chalk flies past her and hits Akira smack in the forehead, knocks him awake, and sends a flurry of horrible nightmare syllables tumbling out of his mouth from the sheer surprise.
The language of Shadows sounds sharp and strange in the mundane banality of the classroom. Ann schools her expression, and does her best to project an air of nope, nothing's wrong, nothing to see here, there's definitely no one speaking in horrible eldritch tongues, why would you even say that?

It's too bad it makes him sound like he's speaking in some kind of cursed, inhuman, monster tongue, but the rest of the Phantom Thieves get used to it.

“The mermaids are foolish enough to succumb to the most pathetic weakness. Love.” The captain sneers, and he kicks the scratched wooden door open with a slam.
Jimin gasps, and his hands fly up to clap over his mouth, heart slamming into his throat. The chains are blood-soaked, and wound so cruelly tightly around the boy hanging limply from them, bruised wrists and battered chest and a cruel collar viciously locked around his neck, chained to the wall behind him. But above everything, Jimin’s wide eyes and heaving lungs are caught on the enormous tail, deep purple iridescent scales, chained heavily and locked against the wooden slats at their feet. His bare torso is marred with dark bruising, littered with slashes, and his head hangs as if unconscious against his chest, long dark hair covering his face as he stirs weakly.
“See, those beasts I told you about?” The captain drawls, smug and aloof. “There’s six of them, with the power to take down any ship and capture any treasure and best any man, any king. And me?”
The captain leans down until his hard-lined face is inches from the mermaid’s, smirking when he flinches back with a quiet gasp and throwing Jimin a darkly victorious grin. “I have their youngest.”Bookmarked by CodeCherry
