Someone could make the case for smuggling—it would be interesting if they got her on piracy. She turns to give her final good-byes, and her heart stops.
“Ryland Grace, you are under arrest.”

Summary
While reading HeartAway’s fanfic *The Long Journey Home* I felt the need to write this episode.
HeartAway’s story is a masterpiece of post-canon multimedia fanfiction that recounts how Earth received news of the Hail Mary through the beetles, and what happened from there. It’s a mind-blowing development of characters and situations, with so many layers of depth that you won’t be able to put it down. For many of us who finished reading the novel *Project Hail Mary* eager to know what might have happened next, it was a gift from heaven.
Here’s a small fictional contribution to the fanfic already created by HeartAway. Which, in turn, is inspired by Andy Weir’s fiction. A full-fledged “Inception.”
This piece includes both the original characters from *Project Hail Mary* and those created by HeartAway, and offers a psychological analysis of Grace following his conversation with Lokken in Chapter 26 of *The Long Journey Home*. Please read HeartAway’s fanfic including Chapter 26 before giving this one a try. I might add a closing chapter later on.
