    A jumbled message from Captain Marvel leads Superman and Batman to the scene of a brutal crime in progress. When the dust settles, they're left with a magic obsessed madman on his way to prison, a grievously injured homeless child, and no sign of Captain Marvel.

    While Superman and Batman try to track down the missing hero, Bruce Wayne welcomes yet another black haired blue eyed orphan into the ranks, and struggles to navigate the waters of handling a child who is *not* a vigilante. And thank god for that, too. Bruce has had just about enough of children being made into soldiers.

    Billy Batson is trying very, *very* hard not to freak out. His success is debatable.

    Tim took the device back, “It’s not a Roomba, it’s too small.” He checked the open plating, “Kon I hope you didn’t break it-”

    The device began to generate a bright light in its core,

    “Shit-” Tim’s words faded beneath the overwhelming noise the device emitted

    Cassie, Bart and Kon immediately tried to run and remove the device from Tim’s hands.The light quickly engulfed the room in a blinding white and when it faded, the four heroes had vanished, along with the device.

    Conner Kent has one year left to live.

    He doesn't tell anyone. Not Clark, not Young Justice, not the League. The genetic instability eating away at his genome has no cure, and Conner has no interest in spending his remaining time being poked, prodded, experimented on, or desperately kept alive by people who can't accept that sometimes there is nothing left to fix.

    So he disappears.

    The only person he chooses to tell is Lex Luthor, expecting contempt or an attempt to fix him.

    Instead, Lex asks one question: "Is this your decision?"

    When Conner says yes, Lex simply accepts it.

    And as the year unfolds, Conner discovers that choosing to die on his own terms doesn't necessarily mean choosing to die alone. Somewhere along the way, Lex stops being the man who helped create him and becomes something Conner never expected.
