Summary
Hijikata Toshirou finds himself attracted to the one woman in Edo that he most definitely should NOT be into. Recognizing that he was already maybe-sort of-in-love was half the journey. And crushing those feelings because he is convinced that his chief would be the best man for her won't be an issue – he is used to living in denial.
But he has to deal with an annoying subordinate who calls him out at every turn, a silver haired frenemy who seems to be keeping secrets and an orange haired alien acquaintance (?) who is convinced that Tae should stay as far away from the Shinsengumi as possible.
Not to mention, the woman herself.

“I’m going to confess to Tamaki-senpai.” You announce to no one in particular, determination bursting forth from your eyes.
Renge chokes on her drink. “You’re gonna what—”
“I’m going to confess to him.” You firmly repeat.
Renge does not know what to do with that information. She has this look on her face that practically screams incredulity, as if whatever you had told her was the worst thing you could have ever conjured in all your fifteen years of living.
“You cannot do that!” Renge yells out, garnering the attention of a few students in the cafeteria. “You absolutely cannot do that!”
The world is ever so changing, and you are nothing but a young girl whose romantic fantasies got to the best of her. Although you wish to start a new chapter of your life from a chrysalis to a butterfly, this certain club just can't seem to let go of you.
