Summary
In this alternate version of the story, Sirius has spent months imprisoned and abused by his family, until his condition becomes truly critical. One night, Regulus finds his brother in the cellar and realizes for the first time that if Sirius stays, he might not survive. Desperate, he begs Sirius to run away alone, promising that he will manage and that they can write to each other and meet at school. Sirius is reluctant to leave his younger brother behind, but Regulus convinces him that leaving isn't an act of abandonment, but rather the only chance for survival. It is a story about two brothers who love each other so deeply that one must let the other go.

Buck blinks at the question, their happy hangout shifting the moment Eddie leaves the room. “Um, what? No, we’re not fighting. What made you think that?”

Summary
When an outbreak that kills off half the population of the countries children spreads, it is not the children who die the government is afraid of; it is the ones who live. And Regulus just so happens to be one of them.
Green, Blue, Yellow, Red, Orange. That's what they are now, a color on a scale, a number on a chart. Regulus may have survived the strange, brutal disease that passed through him, but something much worse has burrowed beneath his skin. Now, the children who have lived through the illness have developed strange abilities - ones they cannot control; ones the President fears. Regulus is taken from his home and locked inside a camp, Azkaban, where he must work to live and live to work. Without his brother, Regulus navigates life locked within this hell, and hiding the fact he's one of the dangerous ones the government had long since been rid of.
When he is broken out the camp a decade into making his life there, he must see if he can find his way around the outside world. It just so happens, though, that the DEA's lied to them, and there ARE other people like him living in the wild. That's where he meets a strange boy with much too much joy for their circumstances

Summary
Regulus follows James with his eyes. He examines the unruly brown hair, the red t-shirt clearly a size too small—stretching over his chest and arms—and the grey sweats that are more wrinkled than the aged skin of Bellatrix’s neck. He watches as James grabs a ginger beer from the fridge, pops it open, and takes a long drink, noting how his Adam’s apple bobs beneath the stretch of his throat and how his golden brown skin looks underneath the kitchen light.
Regulus waits for him to look back.
He doesn’t.
OR:
Regulus transfers universities to be with Sirius after their parents die. James is a complete asshole about it. He has his reasons.
