“My lord?” Gaius called.
Arthur swallowed hard before turning around.
“Yes?” he replied, his voice strangely neutral, far too clear for someone who felt as though his chest were being crushed from the inside.
“I need you to tell me in detail what happened” the physician said. The effort to remain professional was obvious, to keep from showing the despair that must have been consuming him at the sight of his nephew in such a state.
“There’s nothing to tell” Arthur said far too quickly, as though he wanted to end the matter before it gained any weight. “He was completely normal one second, and the next he was groaning in pain, with his eyes…” he made a vague gesture with his hand, unable to finish. Giving it shape would make it real, and he was not sure he could bear it. What difference did it make now? He’s dead, a cruel part of his mind whispered. “Then his eyes rolled back and he… fainted.”

Or: where Merlin’s soul travels back in time while fighting in the midst of the Second World War, and, in the process, his body in Camelot dies for a few minutes, sending Arthur Pendragon to the verge of fainting.

“What, who do you think you are? The King?” Merlin asked incredulously when the alpha said he would throw him in jail - how cocky was this guy? His hopes of making it work were crumbling by the second.
“No, I’m his son. Arthur.”
Of fucking course. Because of course the best alpha Merlin had ever smelled would not only be a total prat, but would throw him on the pyre himself if he knew Merlin had magic, omega or not.

Or: Merlin is an omega who pretends to be a beta to remain close to Arthur. If only he wasn't in love with the prat, it would be much easier to bear.

Summary
It was done, he told himself. Whatever change had occurred in the timeline, it was already in the past, irreversible as any other event. And after all, he’d known Marty for only a week. It was irrational to think of him as a friend. It was wildly irrational, to mourn something that had never existed.
After hearing about the birth of the McFly family's second daughter, Doc Brown can only conclude that the worst has happened and that Marty has somehow been erased from time. He resigns himself to being alone, but when he crosses paths with the new McFly kid he can't help but make a friend.

"Marty’s grandparents used to tell him how much he looked like his mother all the time. It got kind of boring after a while, really, when they pointed it out every time the family went for a visit. He looked more like his Dad, he was sure, or Clint Eastwood, maybe. Regardless, it was never a really big deal. It was just something adults said about kids, like “he’s going to be a heartbreaker when he grows up” or “she’s going to be something” or “kids grow up so fast”.
Maybe that was the problem. Maybe he grew up too fast."
Marty McFly does not like being told that he looks like this mother. Biff Tannen is the reason why.
