    Jiang Wanyin had claimed Wei Wuxian left when they were sleeping, that they had planned on going back to Lotus Pier, to fight against the Wen stronghold that was there, to reclaim the bodies of Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan - and Wei Wuxian had fled, run, disappeared, vanished.

    He claimed that he woke up, and Wei Wuxian was gone, not a single trace of him in the space they had found to sleep in.

    Immediately, others were giving Jiang Wanyin their condolences for having such a disobedient disciple, for Wei Wuxian fleeing in the night after everything he had caused, leaving the aftermath to be faced alone by Jiang Wanyin.

    Lan Wangji had never believed such a story.

    Wei Wuxian presents as an omega just over a month after they arrive for the Cloud Recesses lectures.

    The thing is... no one expected him to actually be an omega, and his presentation is, in a word, messy. Feral omegas aren't natural, not as far as those in power are concerned, and they certainly aren't meant to cultivate alongside alphas and betas.

    They definitely aren't supposed to form a fractured bond with an alpha like Lan Wangji, who does not handle the situation well in the moment, and is then forced to watch the aftermath. Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian struggles to come to terms with what it means to be an omega, and how it feels to be rejected by the only person your soul has ever cried out for.

    As a cultivator of immense power, Lan Zhan has perfect memory of his past life. He kept his sword, power and wealth, expecting to finally have a chance to live happily ever after with Wei Ying, only to find he was too late and his soulmate had already been hurt.

    Nie Huaisang and Lan Xichen have their own problems. They both found a soulmate in Jiang Cheng, but he had refused to answer in their last life. With Nie Huaisang plotting, it seems Lan Xichen may have to play catch up.

    Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying have a mess to deal with, when everyone wants them to hand over their trust just like that? Just like that?
