Summary
God is dead. Sammy finally has what he always wanted. The kid is alive again and trying to figure out the whole human schtick. Cas – Cas is complicated, like always. And Dean is barreling headfirst into a mental breakdown. It’s the end of the road so far, and the future never looked so frightening.
“I can’t,” Dean stammers into Cas’s chest. “With you – I can’t.” And Cas goes very still, stops rubbing his hand up and down Dean’s back. But I want to. Please, Cas, don’t leave me. Because I want to.
“Dean,” Cas says, still not moving. “I can tell you’re praying to me, but I can’t hear you. I’m sorry.”
An alternate ending to the series, focusing a lot on *feelings* and *mental health* and *processing trauma* – because, you know, what’s better than that?

Bookmarker's Notes
Read. Finally adressed Deans problems in a realistic way. Especially first chapters were great and gut-wrenching

Summary
Sam's missing his soul, Castiel has a pissy archangelic nemesis, and Dean wonders if he'll be spending the rest of his life making sure the Apocalypse doesn't go ahead as scheduled. Still, though. He's happy to see Cas. Indiana wasn't really working out.
Alternate season 6, in a universe where Castiel made a different choice, and things snowball from that point forward.

Summary
Dean Winchester has just been released from the psychiatric ward where he's spent the majority of his twenties. He's living in Sam’s spare room, they barely know each other and are struggling to connect, and everything feels too tough. He thought all he needed to feel normal again was his family, but nothing seems to be falling into place.
Then he meets Sam’s weird, cheerful housemate who treats him just like anyone else, and suddenly Dean seems to have found a reason to wake up in the mornings again. -

Summary
"You're right, Dean.” Sam was looking at him sympathetically again. “Yeah, I guess I don't know how you feel. But Cas wouldn't have wanted this.” His voice was quiet.
"I don't give a damn what Cas wanted anymore!" Dean was trying for angry, but it came out sounding more like a sob. "He wanted one thing," Dean held up his finger. "One thing. And I couldn't fucking give it to him in time."
Dean struggles to cope with his loss and finds that old habits are hard to break even once things get better.

Cas is back and things are complicated.

Summary
Sam finishes the trials, expecting to die. Instead, he gets a life that sounds idyllic - the demons locked away, the angels gone (mostly), and Dean by his side.
All he has to worry about is the various monsters attempting to fill the power vacuum; a too-empty bunker; his own deteriorating mental health; Dean’s dive back into alcoholism; and not getting enough sleep (even for him). Oh yeah, and that pesky fact that his dreams are starting to seem a little bit too much like visions. He can handle it. He can.
(Sometimes he can’t.)
If this is healing, Sam sure doesn’t want to know what deterioration looks like.
