“Jinshi had… a request.”
Maomao hummed, not in interest, but in acknowledgment. A sound like the slow drip of tea from a cooling pot.
“Must be dire,” she murmured, brushing a flake of shavings into a tin, “if he sent you instead of dragging me by the collar himself.” Her tone was dry, but not hostile. If she kept the words clipped and factual, people tended to leave faster. That was the goal.
“He wouldn’t know how to ask.”

Summary

Summary
Post LN13 (technically could be mid14) Jinshi finds himself tangled in the complexities of his court position and the hesitant reciprocation of his beloved Maomao, (paired with shocking realities of abortifacients). Some of his support circle are trying to shove him forward, others advising him to hold back, and then there's Maomao. She's done with the convoluted nature, time to lay out the options and let Jinshi AND Maomao decide how they ACTUALLY want to proceed.
Definitely two adults attempting to figure out healthy communication in the bedroom, please enjoy or move along according to your taste. Ch 5 earned the rating.
