Summary
Liam had often thought, when it came down to it, that supporting your football club came with a certain level of resilience, and a willpower that was testimony to an inner sense of strength. Supporting your team even when they’re shit, even when there’s a bigger team just as nearby, truly advocating for the integrity of your club. Perhaps he was just young and passionate, but then Noel felt it too, and he’s old and passionate, so what it really boils down to is passion.
He couldn't doubt Damon's general passion, but he could doubt, with quite a lot of conviction, his passion as a football fan.
