The fox was not cute. In fact, it was the farthest thing from it, being, more or less, the equivalent of a rich, spoiled kid who always got everything they wanted from their parents.
"Why do you keep insisting on being handfed?" he asked, exasperated, when the fox looked from the raw chicken he was offering back up at him. "You're a wild animal, in case you forgot. You don't need me to give food to you."

Steeling his nerves, Olruggio knocked on Qifrey’s bedroom door, not waiting for an answer before pushing it open all the way. Leaning against the frame as nonchalantly as he could, considering the thoughts swirling around his head.
“Hey Qifrey. Ya off tomorrow?”

Olruggio seemed to be choosing his words with care. “You said earlier,” he said, slowly, “that it felt like we were the only ones left in the world when the weather got like this. So I’ve a question. What would you do, if we were the only people left?”
Deep in the heart of winter at the atelier, as a snowstorm blankets the land in silver, Qifrey and Olruggio ponder the idea of what they would do if they were entirely alone.
