Upon returning from a harrowing mission, Kakashi finds Naruto injured in his crib at the orphanage he was sent to. It's the last straw--just one of a dozen different ways the village has failed Naruto--and Kakashi makes the impulsive decision to take the boy and run. Injured from his own previous mission and with no real plan in mind, Kakashi knows it will take a miracle for them to survive, especially since it's only a matter of time before Konoha sends someone to track them down.
That miracle takes the form of the mysterious and elusive Iruka, a man who not only saves Kakashi when his injuries prove too much to handle, but also offers Naruto all the love and care Kakashi could only hope to give him. But Iruka has his own secrets, and danger nips constantly at Kakashi's heels. Even if they can learn to trust each other, it might not be enough to keep any of them safe.
