Vi has a dilemma.

Summary
I hurry closer, carefully dragging the lifeless body further ashore and kneeling before her. Recalling previous baseline first-aid training I’d received prior to being shipped out to Selkie Hollow Light, I press two fingers to a pulse point below her jaw to feel for any semblance of life. During the training, I remember noting the redundancy of it. If I were to fall unconscious, it’s not like I could deliver mouth to mouth to myself, or check my own pulse.
To my surprise — and utter relief — the faint, rhythmic pressure of a heartbeat, meek and slow and triumphant nonetheless.
