Summary
Nearly two decades after the world quietly withered away, Stella—a young trans woman sheltered from the apocalypse until now—is torn from all she knows. Suddenly, she is thrust into a long-dead world where those who still walk posthumously deceive, stalk, hunt and plead—a world where the line between her and the dead is never comfortably clear. Juggling physical survival, the grief over her late lover, and fighting to remain herself, Stella struggles on her own just to see the end of the next hour. That is, until a group of survivors takes her in. Her hopes for stability with them are turned upside down by the devolution of the group's politics. An explosive collapse would find her alone again... were it not for a newfound friend and seasoned survivor.
Together, they journey across hell and face nigh-insurmountable odds in search of a new home, all while hunted by the dead & the living alike, learning to accept each other, narrowly evading starvation with each day, and manoeuvring through the vestiges of a prejudiced society unkind to them. -
