You were usually good at reading people - but Billy Hargrove was hard to read.
Apart from all the confidence, all the smugness, all the self-satisfaction, there was something odd about him. Everything he did felt too calculated, like it was some well carved out armour to keep people at arm's length.
You just couldn't figure out what he was scared of people finding out, what he hid behind his arrogant persona. And that intrigued you.
