Arms closing under his back and steadying him, he watches as Lestat groans, eyes squeezing shut. He moves a hand under the knees, bringing Lestat to the couch carefully.
"S-sorry, chéri," Lestat attempts to say, "I am having second thoughts on the walk it seems."
And Louis cannot help the snort he makes, shaking his head incredulously. "You are ridiculous," he states, teasingly, and earns a pained smile. A moment passes before Louis' face dips into a more serious expression. "Your hips, again?"
Lestat swallows, turning to look away.

Rebuilding their relationship proves complicated when Lestat insists on being an unrepentant brat—flirting with strangers, stealing Louis's expensive chocolate, arguing about Mozart, and treating every boundary as a personal challenge.
Then Louis starts noticing the things beneath the performance.
The endless apologies. The permission asked for without thinking. The lights left burning. The nightmares. The smile that appears just a little too quickly.
Some people hide their wounds behind silence.

Summary
After all, poor Lestat, vomiting his guts up and nodding off sitting down. Poor Lestat, who can’t seem to keep the blood in his system with how often he needs to use the restroom. Poor Lestat, who can’t stomach his usual victims and has to go looking for something to satisfy the urge. Poor Lestat, who has no idea what’s going on.
Poor Lestat. Poor sad, broken Lestat. How could they possibly stay angry at him, when he’s suffering and he has no idea why? That would just be cruel.
And this would make them angry, because they believe him to be a being with enough power to make himself suffer to earn their love. They think him pathetic enough.
He doesn’t even realise he’s crying until the blood drops land on the toe of his shoe.
He can keep it to himself for now. It’s just about him. It’s his business.
If things change or worsen, he’ll tell them.
He swears.

Lestat's body is changing for the first time since the day he died, and he has no idea why. All he knows is that until he can learn more, he cannot tell Louis and Claudia, not wanting to rock the boat after just being welcomed home after six years seperated. This goes wrong.
