Maybe he’d feel better if he closed his eyes, just for a second. It was too dark to see anything clearly anyway, and he’d be able to concentrate better without seeing how fast the ground was coming up to meet him.
A rush of wind sent goosebumps across his skin before two strong hands gripped his shoulders tightly, keeping him upright and from nose-diving straight into the alleyway cement.

Peter surprised him when he turned down his offer to join the Avengers, but instead of just leaving him to his own devices, Tony took a more personal approach and spent the time to actually get to know the kid. And really started to care about him. So much so that he always knew where the kid was, he spent almost every weekend with him, and he'd added numerous protocols to the suit to keep him safe.
He thought he'd planned for every contingency. He'd just never planned for this.
