    After his aunt and uncle were murdered Peter was put into foster care. Too many neglecting and abusive homes later he runs to live on the street. He knows he is smart and will make it work.

    And he did. Successfully for over a year now.

    In all this time he did the thing he never wanted to do again, he let people in. Even though he loves his friends he doesn’t tell them who he is under the mask. They know Spider-Man and that is more than enough.

    Because he knows they wouldn’t want a fifteen year old homeless teenager with trauma piled to the moon in their lives. So the mask stays on.
    What if that fact changes though?

    Peter has no idea how long he lies there, the panicked hum in the back of his mind intermingling with the sound of wheels racing down a country road-- the two converging to form a distant but not unpleasant white noise, the sound sapping all rational thought as it nudges him toward the cliff of unconsciousness.

    Everything is becoming increasingly bleary, until all he can see when he opens his eyes are tiny puffs of air right in front of his nose.

    It must be cold where he is, Peter thinks as his eyelids droop again. That’s funny-- he doesn’t feel very cold.

    Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.

    The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.

    It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.

    There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.

    Or: Shane is in subdrop after their encounter in Vegas. Ilya fixes it.
