The fic begins with childhood, but most of the story takes place at Hogwarts during Harry and Draco’s fifth and sixth years.

Tao has agreed to be Charlie's plus one for his annual work party. It is going to be boring, and there is going to be a lot of noise, and at least some of that noise will be Charlie sighing over his work crush, unattainable primary school teacher Nick Nelson, who has been seconded to develop the primary curriculum and ruin Charlie’s life. Tao Xu, best friend, flatmate, successful photographer, and reluctant listener, feels like he knows everything there is to know about Nick Nelson. (It turns out that this is not, in fact, the case.)
Tao is a good friend, which is why he is going to Charlie’s boring work party, and all he can hope is that the free food and beverages will make up for him having to witness embarrassing, intense pining.
Tao talks to Charlie’s work crush and everyone has a fresh moment of discovery. I am excited to post this for the countdown!
