A smile played on his lips, but before he could respond, Diane’s attention shifted. She grabbed a cream-colored envelope from the stack of mail on the coffee table and opened it. “Looks like an invitation to your department’s Christmas party,” she said, scanning it.
Kurt’s expression didn’t change. “Uh-huh.”
Diane smirked as she read on. “Oh, and it’s a themed party. Christmas characters from movies or TV shows.”
Kurt groaned, his reaction immediate. “They’re just trying to guilt the students into showing up.”
“Well,” Diane said, sinking onto the couch with exaggerated seriousness, “it also says that professors must participate in the theme. Isn’t that adorable?”
Kurt gave her a skeptical look. “You’re making that up.”
“Absolutely not,” she replied, her grin widening. “And we’re going.”
Kurt’s face twisted into mock horror. “Please tell me you’re joking.”
