Aerith tires of running inside a maze where all paths lead to the same end: her end.

He vows to save her from the Eternal Cycle overtaken by The Calamity's disease, yet the Goddess's intervention awakens the Arbiters of Fate, primordial spirits who wish to preserve the natural course of the Planet, even if it spells Gaia's doom — and Spira's.
Ripples appear to disrupt the natural course of Sephiroth's dark destiny. During a high-priority extraction mission in Wutai, he discovers a sacred, hidden temple, hoping to find a powerful materia. Instead, he stumbles upon a voice who warns him of the future, of the monster he shall become, horrified by the visions of a man who wears his face, his hands stained with blood—
