Okay, yes, sure, there was still an arsonist with a vendetta on the loose, and Aaron was not exactly enjoying the constant threat of their home burning to the ground looming over their heads, but there was more joy in their day today, than there had been yesterday, and that felt like enough.

Summary
The gold ring glints in the sliver of sunlight that peeks through the gap in the curtains in Aaron’s hotel room the next morning, sitting innocuously on the floor in the pile of clothes Robert had shirked off with haste the second the door slammed shut behind them. A glittering reminder that Aaron should give up on romance and join a convent or somethin’ because the universe clearly has it in for him.
Jackson, dead. Ed, a canvas of bruises from other (rugby, but still) lads. Ben, terminally boring. Marco, the only Italian in history to not like pasta. Robert, married.

Summary
Robert was bad at being queer. He knew that. As much as sex with men had been an indulgence he had been happy to give himself, Robert is also acutely aware there are certain hangups he has about having sex with another man, and he knew those hangups were probably like, internalised homophobia, or whatever.
He could read, alright - Robert did a lot of Googling one those rare nights he actually went back to Vic’s, and needed to sleep alone.
