While I love Ms. Gabaldon’s work, I always wanted Claire to explain more to Jenny about why she’d stayed away so long, even if she couldn’t tell Jenny everything. Here's what I imagined might have taken place
This takes place during season 3, episode 8, after Laoghaire shoots Jaime and Claire patches him up. It follows more of the show’s version of events, which differ quite a bit from those in the book.

Summary
AU-Claire ends up in 1743 and cannot get back. Not totally the worst thing when one considers she was in an unhappy marriage. Anyhow she is not found by anyone and so she rolls up her sleeves, works as a healer and builds a life in a small village on the cusp of Clan McKenzie. All of which is ruined when two small red headed children running from English forces are found in her garden.
AU in which Jamie is a single Dad to Faith and Brianna and Claire inevitably ends up helping his children flee from the law.

This is not a retelling of Outlander in Claire's time, but it does have echoes of the show and book cannon sprinkled throughout. Really just a tribute to the women who served in WW2 and an excuse to write another Jamie and Claire story with a different twist than my other pieces.

Summary
