Summary
“You’re a real hero, Kit,” William cackles. “Saved Lord Capon’s life, you should be knighted for it.” He smacks a large hand on the younger man’s back, making him yelp.
“What is he talking about?” Jacob asks.
Thomas shakes his head, “It’s a story some of the soldiers tell-“
“Lord Capon is cursed,” William interrupts. “The Black Knight will have his revenge!”
...

Summary
Of course, because he can never be wrong when he'd like to be, Macaque is the one who breaks the silence. "You killed me."
There's a pause as Wukong scrapes his nail over a shingle, then, gently, presses it down into its intended spot. "Yeah."
"Did you ever think about it?" Macaque ventures, voice more intense. There's a missing question there that makes Wukong want to hesitate.
He doesn't though. "Yes."
Funny how things tend to come back to him. He doesn't bother reaching for the tenth shingle.
"Did you ever regret it?"
No. "Just that it was you."
—————
Sun Wukong's forgotten how messy the business of moving on is.

Summary
Stan can feel his heartbeat thudding, a low, dull ache in his chest, as he stares at the door. He doesn’t know what he expected when he got here—a phone call, some scrap of familiarity—but instead, there’s only that dark, uninviting door, barely visible against the relentless white. His fingers tremble slightly as he shifts his grip, the leather cold and unforgiving against his skin. The silence feels alive, pressing against him, whispering to him that he could just turn the key, drive away, leave it all behind.

Summary
It’s funny, he muses, how he used to blame his eyes for everything. A childhood spent squinting at the chalkboard, his small frame perched at the front of the classroom, desperately trying to make out the shapes of letters and numbers scrawled in thick white strokes. He’d narrow his gaze, focusing with all the intensity a child could muster, but the board remained a vague haze of incomprehensible scribbles. His teacher—a kind woman with a soft, patient voice—was no clearer. Her features would blur at the edges, melding into the backdrop of the classroom, a smudge of colour and motion that he could never quite pin down.
