    Jaskier, after getting left behind by Geralt for being sick, makes a deal with a fae so that all the illnesses he was meant to get throughout the year are shoved into three horrible days in winter.

    It’s great! Jaskier loves it, at least the other 362 days of the year. He never gets sick, Geralt doesn’t get sick of him, everyone’s happy!

    Except then he’s stuck at the witcher’s keep during winter after Voleth Meir, and when he tries to warn Geralt to keep Ciri away the next few days, the witcher accuses him of being lazy.

    Geralt…comes to regret that.

    Jaskier trusts Geralt, and is more loyal to him than many give the bard credit for. He is the first to defend the witcher, verbally and otherwise, and is always quick to reassure Geralt that he's not all the horrible things others make him out to be.
    Overall, he's just...a really good friend, even if Geralt refuses to see him as a friend. Even if Geralt doesn't seem to care about Jaskier's fear of the witch, or see how horribly she treats him. Because, at the end of the day, Geralt and he have been traveling together for fifteen years, and that means something.
    It has to mean something.
    ...right?
