Summary
Till's survival was a miracle, born in equal parts of opportunity, luck, and generosity from a kind-hearted stranger. If it weren't for the rebels invading the competition the night of the finale and the disastrous failure of Hyuna's plan, Till would've died there. Just as Ivan had mere hours before him. Seven years had passed since that night and the memory is still as clear as the day it happened. It's been years since he's seen the hallucination, but sometimes he still wakes up, gasping for air, the phantom sensation of long fingers wrapped around his throat, squeezing, but not constricting, and the press of icy lips against his. A stolen kiss, a sacrifice that Till didn't even begin to understand until it was years too late.
He and Ivan were clueless, navigating a world with no direction, no compass. Family, friends, love…they were nothing more than abstract concepts that Ivan read about in the books. It wasn't until later, years after the incident, when he finally gained the strength to talk to the others on the base that he began to piece together all the intricacies of relationships that he never learned, if this works out maybe they can.
