It’s raining in Cloud Recesses.
It’s the kind of rain that settles deep into weary joints and aching bones. Rain that a cultivator as strong as he is should not dread, or fear. The pulsating warmth of his golden core should be enough to wash away any discomfort the storm brings. After all, rain is life-giving, hope-bringing…necessary.
Unfortunately, the thirty three whip scars on Lan Wangji’s back are not any typical injury. And so it is that same necessary rain which he dreads.

“Shizun,” Ming Fan ventured cautiously, watching Shen Qingqiu stride ahead with the massive mirror slung across his shoulder like some deranged traveling peddler, “shouldn’t… shouldn’t we leave that object where it is?”

Except, what came out of Shen Qingqiu's mouth was, “I need this mirror to beat Shang Qinghua over the head with it until he coughs up an explanation.”
