It’s not that Shen Qingqiu wants to die. He really doesn’t – in fact, he’s spent a lot of time and energy arranging an escape route to avoid such an outcome. He’s more than willing to sacrifice his status, wealth, and frankly his dignity if it means preserving his sorry life. He’ll scheme, plot, and otherwise channel his inner evil advisor Grima Wormtongue style – missing eyebrows, forked tongue and all – if it means survival.
But if all else fails, and the alternatives are a quick death by his own hand or a long, torturous one at Luo Binghe’s, the answer is pretty damn obvious.

Yoo Joonghyuk's esper energy has long since grown dark and tangled with overwhelming corruption. No guide he's tested for compatibility with has ever been able to help him, and it seems like the only reprieve he'll get will be the moment he finally succumbs to a rampage and dies.
Kim Dokja, displeased with watching Yoo Joonghyuk surrender himself to such a miserable ending, decides to test a theory he's been quietly sitting on for years. It works.
The resulting relief sends Yoo Joonghyuk into a guiding stupor strong enough that he doesn't wake up for weeks, and Kim Dokja doesn't do much to stop it. With Yoo Joonghyuk this docile... isn't it a bit like taking care of a dog?

“What the hell was that?” he demanded, shook. But the protagonist’s attention was elsewhere.
There was one feather left that had come loose, falling to the ground a little quicker than the soft white ones from the bedding. The man proceeded to catch it in his hand before it hit the ground, disappearing it into his subspace.
[The ‘Fourth Wall’ is trembling violently.]
Kim Dokja corrected himself, it was not that it made little sense, none of this made any sense at all, not a single bit of it. Even Yoo Joonghyuk looked confused about what he had just done.
Slowly, the protagonist turned back to the reader as if looking for guidance, before finding Kim Dokja was holding an arm between them, keeping his distance, and looking well and truly disturbed.
Then, that bastard really had the audacity to look like he was genuinely hurt by Kim Dokja’s reaction.
Yoo Joonghyuk gets hit with the cliché Hidden Scenario Penalty Truth Serum Special Edition and it messes with everyone's minds - someone get these people a degree in emotional regulation

On the other side of the box, Yoo Joonghyuk, back hunched in a truly odd shape, sighs in frustration. “What do you think?”
Kim Dokja curls up tighter into his ball, as if that could possibly create enough space to accommodate all of Yoo Joonghyuk. All it does is earn him a particularly disdainful look, but he continues undeterred, “It’s because you’re trying to sit upright. You can just lay down over here, next to me. What's the problem?”
Without even turning his head fully, Yoo Joonghyuk shoots him an incredulous glance.
A misstep leads to Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk being trapped into a box for who-knows how long, forcing them to reconcile. They go a bit further than that.
