It's not an uncommon occurrence for a teacher to be called 'mom' or 'dad'. Even Ryland's middle schoolers made the mistake, though it only happened a few times throughout each school year. He expected about the same from college kids, especially since most of them would likely be missing home and thinking of their parents, and he doesn't mind. He's always found it rather endearing.
However, Ryland Grace has never been called 'mom'.

Summary
Ryland Grace is a middle school science teacher, who had the unfortunate genetic makeup to be born with lycanthropy. He's use to it, being able to pick out people by smell and having somewhat sensitive hearing, being a little insane during specific parts of the lunar cycle.
He isn't use to having one scent linger in his brain for days, after just one interaction with a man behind a bar counter.Blood, and rain, and muddy earth.
Why did it stick so hard? Why was the man the scent belonged to so eager for his attention?Why couldn't he bring himself to care?
