“That’s different,” Alec insisted despite the blush that painted his cheeks a lovely red. “I can be quiet if I have to be.”
The temptation to tease Alec some more before inevitably giving in was still very much there, but Alec surprised him yet again with the insistent twitch of his arousal where it was pressed into Magnus’ hip. Huh. It seemed that his shy Shadowhunter had a bit of an exhibitionist streak hidden beyond the surface. And then people said that the two of them had nothing in common.
Needing to explore this new knowledge immediately, Magnus reached for the lock and let the sound of it clicking into place be his response. “Alright then. Lead the way, Alexander.”
OR, the one in which Magnus is more than happy to help Alec live out a fantasy of sneaking a boy into his bedroom in the Institute (with some unintended consequences)

Magnus wants nothing more than to flood Alec with his magic until it would be easier to separate the waters of two rivers than to untangle where Magnus ends and Alec begins, and the presence of another, the presence of a power that does not belong to Magnus touching Alec’s core is an acid-burn in Magnus’ mind.
It is intolerable and Magnus will not have it.

Summary
It’s taken centuries but Magnus has found someone who accepts him. Magnus will never admit it but privately he occasionally ruminates. In his deepest conscious, he wonders whether Alec was meant for him all these years. It’s silly and undoubtedly his whimsy getting away from him, but privately Magnus can’t help but wonder if there’s truth to the idea of soulmates after all.
There’s no denying that his magic, his very soul, has reached for Alec since that very first moment.
