He casts his eyes to the other cot, and finds the person there blessedly olive-skinned, supple and warm and alive.
He looks over the man almost desperately. His hair is grown in curled inky strands about his handsome face, jaw clenched in a frozen pensive expression. He feels something stir, almost instinctive, within him, but he shelves the thought for later.
He’s just glad, deeply, and he knows he has to do anything to keep his companion safe, especially if they’re as vulnerable as he’s feeling.

The process of healing is never linear, and Simon’s even less so. But with Grace's gentleness he finds himself wanting to trust again, to recover in ways he thought he’d never deserve.
