Erid was a haven. Grace never expected to be so willingly accepted by her people. To be embraced readily and for their knowledge, resources and research to be sacrificed just so they can build a home just for him. And a home it was. Erid gave him a sanctuary in the form of his biodome and two mates who adored him unconditionally, the culmination of their love blessing them with the promise of something more, all in the warmth of his body.
Finally, he thought, finally Grace did not have to second guess others’ intentions with him. On Erid, everything was simple. Confusing at first, but simple. There’s no need to read between the lines or analyze others before treading carefully. No nonsensical metaphors that Rocky does not understand. His mates sang songs of how much he’s adored as he slept.
To remind him that Savior Grace was so, so, so cherished.

The guy only sniffs and hitches his hands up on his hips, showing off a trimmer waist than his oversized rugby shirt suggested. “What’s your name again?”
“Rocky,” he offers, simple and easy. “You?”
“Grace,” the guy says. “Or Mr. Grace, if you’re a seventh grader within twenty yards of me.”
“Just Grace?”
“Just Rocky?”
Rocky arches a brow and steps inside the copy room, which seems to charge up the air despite the preexisting smell of hot paper and toner. “Look, Mr. Grace,” he says, trying to keep his posture open and casual even though Grace is nearly a hand taller than him. “I didn’t mean to roll up like gangbusters on your copy room racketeering gig, I was just trying to learn the lay of the land and get my sheets prepped for the kids. But I’ll mosey on down to the math department and put my formal order in if need be.”
Grace rolls his jaw like he’s got a marble in his mouth, and now that they’re closer Rocky can make out the bright blue of his eyes and the gold in his lashes. Damn, he’s a good looking son of a bitch, if only he didn’t have a stick jammed so far up his pert little—
