Summary
(This fic is dual PoV, alternating between an original character, Kate, and Solus/Emet-Selch)
Kate is stuck in the small farming village of Sceapton where she's been helping to raise her younger brother for the last few years. Just as her dreams of returning to the city of Tallis to resume her career as a dressmaker seem within reach, the Garlean Army sweeps through her area, annexing Sceapton along the way. Against her will, she becomes one of a handful of villagers conscripted by Legatus Solus Galvus.
The tributes are marched back to the Garlean's encampment and it's not long before the legatus informs Kate that he requires her help with something. The reward for success is very tempting: her own dress shop and guaranteed clients among the Garlean Republic's elite. However, the cost for failure will only rise as the intrigue deepens. Reluctantly, Kate agrees to go along with Galvus' plans. But the more she learns, the more she worries she might be helping the wrong person.

When the Warrior of Light reaches out to Ardbert, their Rejoining tips the scales and pulls the rest of Azem's fragments to her. Azem is overwhelmed by the memories of thousands of lives lived across shards, but she is once more in possession of her Unsundered soul.
