“That’s my boy” Buggy heard Roger chuckle out. Oh.
The whole crew was gathered on the deck, partying, having the time of their lives, it would seem. That was normal. From the tiny, dark corner Buggy was standing at, he also noted how Shanks was flanked on both sides. Roger sitting on his right, with Rayleigh pulling him into a side hug, from where he was sitting on his left. That was…. Also normal.
Buggy really… really dislikes the fact that everyone prefers Shanks more. Usually, Buggy would just lick his wounds and carry on as normal, but he was able to find another way to make them love him more! -

What if Doflamingo realized what was happening five minutes earlier?
In canon, eight-year-old Doflamingo stood silent and furious while his father renounced their Celestial Dragon status, too proud and too angry to see the disgust on the elders' faces until it was too late. The family fell. His mother died. He killed his father and tried to crawl back, and the Holy Land rejected him anyway.
In this world, Doflamingo sees the sneer. He sees the cold eyes. He sees the Holy Knights shifting their weight, ready to escort them out, and he understands—with the sharp, animal clarity of a child who refuses to die—that his father has just made them all disposable.
So he does the one thing no one expects.
He bursts into tears.
OR: In canon, Doflamingo was too proud to cry. He lost everything.
In this AU, he cries like his life depends on it. Because it does.
OR: An eight-year-old commits emotional terrorism against the Five Elders, his mother helps, and Homing Donquixote never stood a chance.
