“Of course you do, Daniel,” Armand whispered, leaning so close to Daniel’s face, he could feel the tantalising kiss of her breath. “I’ve made sure of that. What use would you be if you might leave me, find something better and run off?”
“There is nothing better than you.”
And it was not flattery; Daniel’s body trembled when Armand left him without. Her touch. Her commands. Her scrutinizing gaze. These all had replaced whatever came before as the addictive in Daniel’s psyche.
“That’s right, puppy,” Armand whispered, hand carding in Daniel’s cropped hair, uncaring for the way her fingers caught in the curls. Revelling as she tugged. “What are you?”
“Your boy. Your pet.”

Another long night on the Island. Another night where Daniel must learn control of even his passing thoughts lest Armand hear them.
