Summary
Over Rumi's arm, crawling up her shoulder and to her neck, were dull, dark purple patterns. They were unmistakable. They couldn't be anything else.
Around them, the honmoon rippled; the patterns flashed in time with it, a wave of vibrant pink pulsing through them and closing in on the injury, only for the glow to be repelled and spread outwards instead.
The cold dread from before was back, pressing its frigid fingers to her spine. Her limbs were suddenly too heavy to move. Her brain buzzed with thousands of thoughts, too loud for any specific one to stand out.
It didn't make sense. It wasn't possible.
But then, neither was her shin-kal cutting Rumi.
Honmoon weapons only killed demons. It was the reason Zoey could take risks with throwing her shin-kals—even if she did hit someone, the worst it could do was bruise.
So why was Rumi bleeding?

“Why? The Honmoon’s sealed, so it’s not like we have anything to worry about.”
“It’s nothing.” There’s a hesitation in Mira’s voice that has Zoey turning her head to glance at her. Mira catches the look and rubs her neck. “It’s nothing, really. I just—thought I saw a flash. This morning.”
Curious, Zoey asks, “Like a Honmoon flash?”
Mira nods.
“What color was it?”
“Uh, pink. Like a—”
“—a breach,” Rumi finishes with a whisper.
Or: Three years after their earned happy ending, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey aren’t thrilled to dive back into battle, but they’re prepared to do what they need to as demon hunters. (Truth.) The only problem lies in what memories may resurface in the process.

Summary
After the fight on the train, Rumi returns to the penthouse convinced the only way to save the Honmoon is to remove herself from the equation entirely. Mira and Zoey follow her onto the rooftop and finally discover the truth, neither of them react the way Rumi expects.
Or: Rumi learns that being a demon and being loved are not mutually exclusive.
