"If you hurt him in any way," Jean snarls, "if you so touch a hair on his body, I swear-"
"I'm not the one who used her powers to torture him," she whispers in MJ's voice.
It's a blow that makes Jean stagger. She looks up to see the projection of herself smiling back. And with Peter's voice, her reflection speaks:
"Between the two of us, who's really the monster here?"
That word from his voice burns through her.
"No... that's not... leave him alone!"
Her reflection conjures another image: Peter, broken and bleeding.
Jean screams and rages and reaches through the telepathic channel to crush the reflection that dared to touch him. But the reflection merely disappears into darkness along with her Peter Parker. It is only the glass around her that shatters, the table and desk that collapse, and the TV implode. In the end, she is left alone, seething in her anger and fear, surrounded by a thousand shattered images of Jean Gray staring back, eyes bloodshot, ready to kill, afraid.
In the end, she is left to herself.
____Jean Gray abducts Peter Parker, and it's up to Jean Gray to save him.
