Summary
For some reason, there was no miraculous resurrection in the Temple of Bhaal. Durge is, instead, resurrected later by someone (or something) far less altruistic, and left in Enver Gortash's tender "care". What are the terms of his return, and what does Gortash want?

Summary
There wasn't a shirt in this house that would have fit Durge properly, he realized; and somehow, the fact that Durge had managed to stretch the one he'd been given over his frame like some kind of second skin was more obscene than if he'd simply not bothered.
It was one thing to know, from a logical perspective, that the scales one could observe on a clothed dragonborn naturally extended over the rest of the body as well. It was quite another to be able to count them individually through the fabric.
He was staring. He was staring, and suddenly it seemed very important that he be seated. Now. His desk had never seemed like such a blessing.

Summary
What if Enver Gortash was a wildly popular model, playboy, and socialite; and what if Durge was hired as his bodyguard? A slightly modern AU still set in Baldur's Gate.

Summary
He understood, in a detached and observant way, that Durge wasn't missing, not exactly. This was Durge somehow, this gaping wound in reality with too many limbs, and it was going to kill him. There was nothing he could do to stop it; this was a thing fashioned of and for death. If Durge was a living manifestation of murder, this thing was the weapon.

Summary
They didn't send a Bhaalist, Gortash realized, blankly. They sent a Bhaalspawn.
There had been rumors, of course; there were always rumors. None from anyone he'd consider remotely trustworthy, though, given that few could have knowingly laid eyes on one and survived to gossip.
What other explanation could there be? This thing, this beast devouring its prey mere feet away from him—there was no semblance of rational thought in the way its eyes burned in hunger and feral delight. Gortash gripped his small knife harder, and wished he'd brought something with a little more punch to it. He couldn't just stand here all night, however, plastered against the wall, hoping he'd somehow escape the creature's notice. Surely it was an optimistic sign that he still drew breath?

Summary
"We're almost there," he hears Durge say. It's meant to be reassuring, he assumes, but nothing Durge does as a surprise is reassuring. His Bhaalspawn had been leading him through endless damp passages for what felt like an hour. The stench of filthy water and rotting wood soaked his skin. He was sure they'd been traveling in circles, but he'd promised not to remove the blindfold early. All he had to orient himself were murmured warnings about steps and the cool, scaled fingers twined in his own.

Summary
“Oh dear, how embarrassing. There must be some misunderstanding,” Gortash said, and Durge actually blinked. Just once, but it was enough. This was more than the banter he was accustomed to, had come to enjoy in spite of all good sense. This was the Archduke Gortash voice.
“I wasn't asking.”
Gortash stood still, chin raised imperiously - though eye contact would have been difficult otherwise, with Durge standing a head taller. Waiting. Challenging. Perfectly serene in the knowledge that he would be obeyed.

Summary
Gortash rolled his eyes. “Is a man not entitled to the breeze from his own window on a warm night? Speaking of night, it appears to be the middle of it. To what do I owe the pleasure?” A low, rumbling chuckle was his answer.
“That depends. How much do you think you can give?” Durge asked.
