Summary
When war threatens to break out between the Gusu Lan and Qishan Wen, a hasty marriage alliance between Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian was the proposed answer.
AKA an excuse to write wedding night smut.
Now with plot.
When he turned 18, Wen Ruohan introduced the next aspect of his training: the art of sex education. He had engaged momos – knowledgeable older servants – to teach Wei Wuxian. And oh, what an enlightening journey it had been.
It turned out that Wen Ruohan had good foresight, for Wei Wuxian was now the perfect solution to prevent war between the two clans. His long acknowledged status as Wen Ruohan’s ward rendered him as an acceptable match to marry the second heir of the Lan clan.
His marriage into the Lan clan would serve as a living hostage, a guarantee that Wen Ruohan would not move against them. Wei Wuxian’s ghost cultivation was also kept a secret; to the Lans he only appeared as a harmless bride – a political pawn with no real power.
Wen Ruohan, too, also stood to gain from the arrangement – a rare chance to plant someone into the Lan clan. And so the wedding between Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian was decided and arranged.

Summary
Broken Zither Snapped Strings. The Light that Casts Long Shadows, Ender of Four Clans, Hanguang-Jun, Lan Wangji. He is known for driving the elders of his own clan to madness, destroying the Nie sect’s seat of power, terrorizing the leader of the Jiang sect, and annihilating the Jin main line. With those acts, he leveled the four great sects, and with them the inheritance-based structure of the Jianghu itself. He is said to be the Yiling Patriarch’s last and greatest act of revenge, born from the ashes of the Burial Mounds to punish those who brought about the necromancer's fall, an unholy purveyor of a cruel and merciless justice.
Of course, what is said is not always to be believed.
As he lays dying from 33 strikes of the discipline whip in the Burial Mounds, Lan Wangji learns Wei Wuxian escaped his tragic fate by ascending as a god. As a result, Lan Wangji decides to stick around. His own death notwithstanding.

All of these points are also exactly why Lan Wangji cannot understand how she's allowed to love without restraint. Because, despite all of the discomfort that ghosts after her, and the long scrubbed off blood still staining her hands, Wei Ying has stayed. And not only does she stay, she wholly gives. Wei Ying is here, and somehow still a beautifully eager thing that desires Lan Wangji; who wants to be fucked and owned, whimpering to please.
When Lan Wangji holds down below her with vicious hunger eating at her skin and Wei Ying watches her, there's no mistrust in her eyes. She simply accepts the greedy possession of Lan Wangji's bruising hands without a word of complaint, like it's easy as breathing.
A miracle.

This would have to end in exorcism. He knew that.
…but he could show him Lotus Pier one more time, perhaps. He could get more final words than a sucking chest wound had allowed.
