Summary
Maybe, Fernando thought with a twisty smile, this was what he'd needed for a very long time.
“Are you enjoying that whiskey enough to finish it?”
Oscar looked down at the glass he'd been holding. “No.” He set his drink down decisively on the table. “Let's go.”

Summary
Lando is bathed in the glow of the setting sun, his face alight with wonder. He looks so alive, so vibrant, and for a moment, Oscar is the one who forgets to breathe.
Yet, he knows that if he pressed his ear to Lando’s chest at that moment, there would be no sound, no movement—just the stillness of death.

Summary
It is a lamb walking to the slaughter, its head held high, knowing that its act of obedience and its throat, too pretty to cut, will spare its life.
Max, of course, the horrifying thing that he is, cannot resist sinking his teeth in.

Summary
"Is that why you always look at me like you hate me?" Lando asks.
"I don't hate you," Oscar tells him, confused. "I've followed you hundreds of miles out here with nothing but a sticky note as a promise. How could I hate you?"
"See, you're doing it now, even. You look like you're ready to pounce."
I want to eat you, Oscar thinks. I want to kill you, I'm so in love with you.
