Summary
In which Peter Parker meets Kate Bishop.
Peter sat up with a gasp and immediately regretted it, pain shooting up his side and into his arm. The upper part of the blanket fell from his shoulders and onto his lap before he slid back down onto the couch, and he wondered faintly who had covered him with it. Then, with a sinking feeling, he realized there was no layer of fabric keeping the air conditioner from blowing into his face, meaning…his mask was off. He was in an apartment he didn’t recognize, and whoever lived here —Kate Bishop? —knew his identity.
Speak of the devil. There she was, glaring daggers at him from the sofa across the fancy coffee table, elbows braced on her knees. She looked pissed off.“You’re younger than me.”

Summary
Natasha Romanoff is a spy, an Avenger. She is also falling in love with Steve Rogers.
Unfortunately, like most things in their lives, the timing is pretty bad.
Steve nods and tries to leave again, but she throws herself across the doorway. He looks mildly irritated now, “Natasha!”
She reaches up to cup his face in her hands, “Sorry. Just didn’t want you to go without a kiss goodbye.”
Steve’s face doesn’t quite soften, and Natasha doesn’t blame him for not wanting to let his guard down entirely right now, but he does set his suitcase down and draw her in by her hips, “What are you going to tell the others?”
Natasha puts her arms around his neck, “That you’re thinking it over, but you have a personal emergency.”
Steve kisses her then. It feels like a goodbye, like they won’t be seeing each other in three days. He stamps one last kiss on her cheek, “Take care of yourself, Romanoff.”
She nods, “I always do.” Finally, she steps aside and lets him exit his room. “Steve?”
He turns back. She waves a little and he nods and walks out with his suitcase.Bookmarked by JayE24

Summary
On the first day, after finally getting a good night’s sleep, Jean heads out for a walk and a coffee.
On the second day, she takes her coffee to the bookstore and lets herself browse the shelves, trailing her finger over the spines of stories she once read with Sarah, memories that feel both familiar and foreign. (She buys a book of fairytales and puts it under her pillow as if she can bring Sarah back by osmosis, as if she can help her brain keep the memories that she’s worried will fade.)
On the third day, she opens the door holding a vanilla latte and finds Yelena Belova sitting cross-legged on her bed.
