Ogata was different. He was sick. A rancid piece of gauze hid the wound in the place of a sharp, careful eye — an eye that made him terrifying, gave him worth, one of the two surprisingly fragile parts of him that made him who he was.
Tsurumi touched his jaw and lightly nudged it to make Ogata turn his head. He obliged.

Ogata wondered if Tsurumi-san made bento for Manager Wada, too. Probably. They never had lunch together, so he wouldn't know. As he chewed a piece of fried chicken, he imagined slipping rat poison into Wada's bento, and smiled.
Money. That's what he needed. Tsurumi-san didn't even like Wada, he only stayed with him for the money. Even then, it wasn't as if the manager position made a ton of money. It wouldn't be hard to make more money than him in a year. Ogata was younger, and Wada had hemorrhoids. It wasn't even a competition.
