    Only, one thing that John has learned over the course of the last twelve months: Living Paul isn’t the same person as Dead Paul, is he.
    Dead Paul is a humble, straight-laced musical visionary; steadfast in his devotion to his family and the rights of animals of all kinds; unwavering in the face of adversity, unafraid to leave behind a band he’s outgrown; his head is brimming with ideas, his hands with talent, his heart with compassion.
    John knows Living Paul is in there somewhere, buried beneath the layers and layers of spin and veneer: the idiot who got caught with half a pound of grass in Japan, the soft lad who used to climb up a drain pipe to sneak into his own house, the mad genius, the infuriating know-it-all, the insensitive twat – the most stupidly hopeless endeavour to summarize.

     

    December 8th 1980: Paul McCartney is shot dead outside his home. In his wake, he leaves a grieving Linda, his four beautiful children, and a remarkable legacy, the scale of which the world has only begun to comprehend.

    And John.
