And unfortunately for Macaque, his two cubs are dragged into the mess too, without his magic to feed them, the shadows will be quick to reclaim their little shades. Macaque writes out his final wishes.
“I’m sorry we could not have the forever we wanted, my sun. Not in my first life, nor in my short second life. Perhaps one day, if I am to ever reincarnate, we can meet again. I doubt the hands of the ten kings shall let my soul escape again, so please, save yourself the trouble and do not come after me, if you even still love me enough to bear such a thought. You were a wonderful experience Sun Wukong.”
With trembling hands, Macaque set down the pen.
