Diego’s lips were a thin line. ”Aren’t you supposed to be in prison, Ramon?”
”Possibly. I might have escaped a bit earlier than my sentence proclaimed.”

Wolf chuckled warmly, and rose. ”Ha! Nice dive there, Cub!” He scanned the disturbed surface, expecting the lad to appear, but instead simply saw it flatten to its undisturbed state. ”Cub…?”
Alex did not surface.
”CUB!”
It did not take many moments before both Wolf and Eagle had dived in from both sides of the stream.
The water was chilly and dark, but one could at least see one arms-length before oneself. What they saw made their stomachs drop.
On the bottom lay an old broken fence; the metal and barbed wire tangled in a chaotic mess.
…and tangled within the tangle – was Alex.

His gaze became fixed on the Mini ahead. Strangely enough, the car almost appeared to be melting. The surrounding sprayed graffiti walls and flourishing vegetation blended together with the car as one swirl of colours.
Alex was about to ask Kyra about it, when he realised the words got stuck in his mouth. His tongue tried to get the words out, but in vain. He could not speak.
But his tongue felt something else; a metallic taste, all too familiar.
Blood.
