Summary
The Doctor can finally have a peaceful, happy life … except of course he won’t be able to stay away and leave the Master in UNIT’s clutches for long, even if it only bodes trouble. When he finds the way to reverse the Master’s transformation, he’ll get the version of his arch-friend he’s been least expecting.
As for the Master, he’ll have a hard time figuring out what the Doctor might want in return for his help. There must be something, right? There’s always a catch.

“I wonder what I’d be without you.”
After the defeat of Rassilon and The End of Time has come to pass, the Doctor comes face-to-face with something that makes both his hearts break; the sight of the Master broken and dying on the floor. Before he can even think about helping him the dreading knocking starts up.
One ... Two ... Three ... Four
Over and over it knocked until he turns to see the radiation chambers. Now he must make a choice, one that could prove fatal. Is it possible to save Wilfred, the Earth and the Master all in the bound of a single afternoon? Struggling with his own inevitable end, he defies all the laws of the Universe in order to get back to his childhood friend and do everything in his power to bring him back.
He has two hearts, after all. He's made of stronger stuff than that.
(I promise to think of a better summary soon, but this one is just so emotional I can barely type anymore. If you want a slightly alternate ending to The End of Time Part 2 this will definitely make you weep even more than the original.)

Mortified and a little offended, Grian snapped, "What's so funny?"
"Nothing, nothing," Scar said, in a tone that implied there was absolutely something.
"I don't buy that for a second," Grian hissed. He reached up, missed the first time, and eventually managed to get his fists curled into the collar of Scar's shirt. It earned him another round of snickering. "Seriously, what kind of trouble's up your sleeves tonight? Are you just determined to make these next few minutes hell for me?"
"Oh? Little ole me?" Scar feigned innocence. "How could I possibly be bothering you, G? All I've done is get comfortable."
Further adding to the issue, he gave Grian's hips a teasing squeeze.

The Master breathed out slowly and reached up, hands smoothing out some wrinkles in the Doctors awful suit. His fingers wandered down, gripping the lapels of that even more awful brown coat and pulled the Doctor closer, down to his eye level. Their noses were almost touching now and the Doctors brown eyes widened, staring back at him in surprise.
“Okay, I’ll give. Want me to tag on after you, sure. I can do that. But you know, just while I’m at it…”, The Master purred, voice dropping low with a devilish grin spread wide on his face.
“I’m going to make your life a living hell, Doctor.”
