Summary
Bucky dreams of Harry, of the torture and abuse and hatred spit at him. Frozen and bound, he can’t help the small boy whose relatives demean and ignore. He can’t stop the frying pans swung at small heads when things go wrong or the fists of bigger kids trying to erase any “strangeness” in the young boy. Over the years Bucky tries to find the boy,but he doesn’t get very far before his handlers reign him back in with lightning and fire and darkness. Bucky can do nothing but watch and rage about the scrawny boy who’s expected to fight for every breath. The last time Bucky is awakened from the cold, he races across the continent towards the young man with the sad eyes who’s currently walking towards his death.
Harry has known nothing but pain and hatred his entire life. Sure he has Hermione and the Weasleys who seem to care for him (when they’re not ignoring him), but it seems that his whole life was arranged by Dumbles to maximize his suffering. After watching the pensieve memories, he knows that he was nothing but a lamb raised for slaughter, given nothing because he is nothing. Harry is bone tired of trying to scrape up any love or affection. He knows what is expected of him and it’s something easy for a change.
