There was a comfort in the consistency of Chris’s Friday night after-work routine. The first step he took into his favourite bar, the one with the heavy scent of tobacco in the air, with Jill pouring drinks and Claire nagging in his ear, he felt his problems melt away.
Consistency.
But not tonight. He paused on his second step as the old wooden door to the bar swung shut behind him. Not tonight, because tonight there was a man sitting on his bar stool, nursing his drink like he was ready to cry into it.

Leon nearly loses his nerve, rotary phone cradled against his cheek in a self soothing motion as it rings. He knows Claire, and he trusts Claire, and mortifyingly, he fucking wants her. He wants her to get all soft and soothing, the way she does for spooked disaster survivors while out for Terrasave. He wants her to compare and contrast who he is, before Spain, and then after Spain. To admit that the mission thoroughly broke him open and mangled him up inside. It’s pathetic.
“Hello?” Fuck. Leon clears his throat.
“It’s Leon,” he starts, and instantly loses his nerve. He doesn’t have the strength to burst into tears, brickwalling incoming. “Hey, are you busy right now? I was hoping I could ask you for a favor. And I’d like to catch up. If that’s okay.”
Or: Leon comes home from his assignment in Spain with a newfound drinking problem, a post traumatic stress disorder diagnosis, a suicide attempt, and, most importantly, his heart ripped out of his chest entirely.

Summary
The BSAA has recently implemented a new policy for small-scale outbreaks: instead of being terminated on sight, infected individuals are to be taken into custody to see if a cure can be devised to save them. Science and technology have come a long way, after all.
But when one of the first infected to be taken in at the BSAA North America Headquarters happens to be Leon S. Kennedy, however, that new policy doesn't end up being as straightforward as anyone anticipated. Especially for Chris Redfield.
Can be read as getting-together-romantic, 100% platonic, or whichever secret third option you desire! Because amatonormativity can suck a B.O.W. (Big Ol' Wiener). Rated Mature for heavy themes.
