They could decorate it, name it, do the whole charade of caring for it like a real child, but most importantly, they couldn’t let the egg break.

After being subjected to Oliver’s rants about how the other teams needed to score, and how Oliver needed to add these skills to his training programme, and bludger this, snitch that, and the multiple all-nighters Percy had pulled that week, the redhead grabbed his blanket, wand, and book, headed to the common room and passed out within seconds of finding a suitable couch, still in most of his uniform.
He was so exhausted that he didn’t hear the portrait door creak.----
Or, Oliver Wood had been even more obsessed with the Quidditch cup (if that is even possible), prefects have an actual duty to protect the school and lead their classmates, and (most) adults at Hogwarts finally open their eyes to how terribly the Sirius Black situation was handed?
