Summary
Thirty-something Nick and Charlie meet as trainee therapists at a psychology practice, and sparks fly immediately. Nick spent his life in an environment where he could never fully be himself, so he suppresses his emotions and shuns vulnerability like a pro. Cue a slow-burn emotional romance with two people learning to love and be loved as they are, lots of personal growth, an unflinching look at the harrowing realities of trauma, and a focus on the gritty, quietly powerful work of recovery.

Most people knew this about him, most of his coworkers respected his nods or otherwise silent greetings and didn’t bother to try and converse with him.
All except one Nicholas Nelson, of course.
Nick was a morning, afternoon, mid-afternoon, and night person. Much to Charlie’s chagrin, Nick was a never-off-even-for-a-single-second-of-the-day type person.
And, boy, that irritated Charlie to no end because no person should always be that cheerful and happy and full of conversation.
